Some of the more interesting findings:
1. One in five people had lost out on potential love by not backing up their contacts on their phone and then losing the device.
2. 68% of people admitted not copying their contacts elsewhere
3.44% had permanently lost contact with friends, 40% lost memorable photographs.
RTE have picked up a major deal we have signed in the USA. We will providing protection to 65,000 students and 13,000 staff at Arizona State University , the largest campus in the States. This is a major deal for us and we are in discussions with a number of other campuses for similar deals.
Our beta programme for our software will be going live very soon . A solid date on Monday. The software is a big step forward for our company and it moves us from pure lost & found to mobile security. We have found with our customers that whilst protecting against loss was very important protecting against theft was just as critical.
We will be launching with a software product for laptops and certain phones. We will be confirming exactly what we are covering in the next number of days.
As the service is patent pending I am precluded from giving too much details but hopefully it will be worth the wait.

Police have said that they want all phones to have GPS systems so they can track victims and suspects. 20% of phones currently have GPS in South Korea.
“The National Police Agency “will consult with pertinent government agencies to pursue the installation of a GPS receiver on all mobile phones,” Song Gang-ho, investigation director of the agency, said in a press conference.”
They are also discussing tagging kids in schools to ensure they can locate them at any time. Docomo have an interesting service which I saw at the ‘07 3gsm that may fit the bill.

A laptop with 20,000 employee records was stolen from a Kraft employee who was travelling on business. The employee was involved in a systems migration project. It is mindboggling that a billion dollar company like Kraft does not have procedures in place to stop this insanity happening.
