1,000 Laptops lost / stolen from UK Government
According to The Guardian the UK government has lost or had stolen over 1,000 laptop computers in recent years.
This issue is becoming a real political hot potato and will run and run. The next big breakthrough on this issue is when data will be used and will cause havoc for the consumers involved.
Here is a breakdown on the laptops lost /stolen per department:
The MoD is one of the worst offenders, having had 503 laptops lost or stolen since ‘98.
The Department of Health -151 since 2001-02.
The Ministry of Justice -136 since 2001
HM Revenue and Customs – 45 stolen in the last year alone.
