ONCIX tips for travelling outside the USA with Mobile Devices
The Office of the National Counterintelligence Executive (ONCIX) has prepared a mobile security booklet for US citizens who travel abroad. The booklet offers advice for traveling with mobile phones, laptops, PDAs and other mobile devices.
The key tips:
If stowing your phone remove the SIM and the battery.
Increase password strength and change when you return home.
Use a different phone when travelling.
Dont ever use usb sticks.
Dont use wifi – it is never secure and in some countries is compromised by security services.
Encrypt files on laptops but you may need to open files at custom
